Studios are available as shell kits, installed shells (Texas only) and turnkey buildings (Texas only). 

Shell kits consist of the exterior materials for the building. After local install, the backyard Studio Shed shell kit will look complete from the outside. On the inside, it will only have the pine tongue-and-groove ceiling cover, exposed studs and optional bathroom wall framing. 

Installed shells are essentially the shell kit installed by Kanga Room Systems in Texas. Turnkey buildings are move-in ready studios that are completely finished — inside and out — with electrical, optional plumbing for a bathroom and fixtures. 

All Turnkey Studio Sheds come with:

• Pier and beam foundation

• 60" entry steps

• Exterior wall framing, per plan

• Exterior doors, per plan

• Windows on front elevation

• Fiber cement lap siding

• Maxi-Rib 30-Year Galvalume roof

• Pine tongue-and-groove ceiling cover with R19 insulation

• 30- or 40-gallon electric hot-water heater

• Beadboard plywood wall cover with R13 insulation (clear-coated, whitewashed or painted)

• Carbonized bamboo flooring

• Installation/delivery within Kanga service area (state of Texas)

Kit Information

Studio Luxe Backyard Studio Shed kits are available for DIYers in Texas and most other states (some limitations apply). Most of our kit customers choose to have local contractors assemble their Studio Luxe.          

All kits include pre-framed walls, panelized roof material (such as rafters, Galvalume metal roof cover, decking, or flashing and insulation), our standard pine tongue-and-groove ceiling cover, lap siding, house wrap, optional bathroom wall framing and windows and doors to your specifications. With the exception of the siding, everything in the kit is pre-cut, panelized and ready for a quick on-site installation.  

Due to the stick-built nature of our prefab products, all plumbing, electrical wiring and painting must be completed on site by you or your contractor. We are able to send most of the material for the Kanga Room buildings (i.e., skid/pier and beam foundation platform, decking, wall cover, flooring, light fixtures, bathroom vanities, HVAC wall unit, etc.), but it’s usually more cost effective for you to buy those materials locally. Please note that we do not typically send deck or foundation material with the kits. It is much more time- and cost-efficient for you to complete your deck or foundation while your kit is being prepared for shipping.
